Description:
Long time book collectors and readers, with a house full of books and children, Margaret Trevenen Black and Daniel Black had no choice but to open a bookstore. Teachers were not in great demand in 1979. The Blacks opened Blacks' Vintage Books in Winnipeg's West End. As the store grew, more space and better parking space was needed. In 1990 they became Blacks' Vintage Books & Antiques and moved to St. James, 2059 Portage Ave. opposite the Assiniboine footbridge. They have been in their present location now for fifteen years and have grown amazingly. They expanded into ephemera and music of all kinds.
